Raymond A. Frasene Sr., 92, Longtime Elmsford Resident, WWII Veteran

ELMSFORD, N.Y. - Raymond A. Frasene Sr., a resident of Elmsford for 60 years, died Jan. 6. He was 92.

Frasene was born May 27, 1921, in Corona, Queens, to Giovanni and Maria (nee Pascucci) Frasene. He graduated from Newtown High School in 1939 and the Delehanty Institute in 1953. During World War II, he served with intelligence reconnaissance for the 413th Regimental Headquarters of the 104th Infantry Division (also known as the Timberwolves). He received three battle stars and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He worked as an industrial chemist for Spraylat in Mount Vernon. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Elmsford for over 60 years serving as minister of the Word, and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He served as past president of Elmsford Fire Company No. 1 and was a member for over 35 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Frasene is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Dennis (Karen) Frasene Sr. of Yorktown Heights, Stephen Frasene of Elmsford; daughter, Linda (Douglas) Daniels of White Plains; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by his son, Raymond Jr.; and brothers, Ettore, Nello and Ezio.

Calling hours are Thursday, Jan. 9 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Hawthorne Funeral Home . A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Elmsford. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frasene’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
