Rye's Irving Harper, Furniture Design Pioneer, Dies At 99

RYE, N.Y. -- Irving Harper, a pioneer in Pop Art furniture design and longtime Rye resident, has died at the age of 99.

Harper died of kidney failure on Aug. 4, according to The New York Times, citing his daughter, Elizabeth Harper Williams.

One of the most accomplished designers of the modernist style, Harper is renowned for developing the Herman Miller company logo, and its Marshmallow sofa.
