Sarah Inez Corbett, 100, Longtime Greenburgh Resident

GREENBURGH, N.Y. - Sarah Inez Corbett, a longtime resident of Greenburgh, died May 12. She was 100.

Corbett was born March 16, 1914, in Orange County, N.C., to Sidney and Lessie Currie. She worked for many years at the Greenburgh Day Care Center as a foster grandmother.

Corbett is survived by her children, Sarah Leak, White Plains, Sandra Waters (Wardell), Middletown, Del., Richard Corbett, Jr. (Constance), Providence Forge, Va., Michael Corbett (Remy), White Plains, Ward Corbett (Sheila), Middletown, Del., Beth Smithson, Alpharetta, Ga., Christie Corbett, White Plains and David Corbett (Jessilene) Dover, Del.; sisters, Mildred Jeffries, Vergia Allene Villines and Hurdles Mills, N.C.; 24 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; and 30 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Richard Lee Corbett Sr.; and siblings, Alma Ruth Snipes, Daisey Mae, Alice, Rudy, Sidney, William and Franklin Currie.

Calling hours are Saturday, May 17 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, 31 Manhattan Ave., Greenburgh, with funeral services immediately following at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla.
