Walter D. Morgan, 79, Teacher And Administrator At Irvington Public Schools

THORNWOOD, N.Y. - Walter Daniel Morgan of Thornwood died Dec. 2. He was 79.

Morgan was born Sept. 25, 1935, in New York City, to Walter and Edith Morgan. He attended Eastchester Public Schools and received his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Education from the City College of New York and an Ed. D. in Education from the State University of New York at Albany.

He began his career as an Industrial Arts teacher in New York City and Irvington High School. He was a school business administrator at Irvington Public Schools and then assistant superintendent-finance at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls U.F.S.D. in Hawthorne. He was an adjunct professor at SUNY New Paltz, Mercy College, Pace University and Columbia University. For many years, he served as a member of the Board of Trustees Westchester Exceptional Children's School in North Salem.

Morgan is survived by his wife, Joan (Donohue); daughters, Susan Morgan of Mt. Kisco and Elizabeth (Joseph) Castellano of Brewster; three grandchildren; and brother, Tom of Kettering, Ohio.

Calling hours are Thursday, Dec. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at Holy Rosary Church, 170 Bradhurst Ave., Hawthorne. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
