Shortly after 9/11, the town and ArtsWestchester partnered with the Rotary Club and built a large wall at Richard Presser Park (Webb Field), to honor the memories of the victims of 9/11.
Over 1,000 individually painted tiles were placed on the wall that The Rotary Club funded. In 2011, we noticed that the tiles were falling off the wall and it was restored. An artifact from the World Trade Center was also affixed to the wall.
Last week, during our annual 9/11 ceremony we noticed that tiles were again falling. It's obvious that there is a design problem with the wall. Options we have:
- Tear down the existing wall.
- Preserve the tiles.
- Replace the large wall with a new design.
- Place the murals on the new memorial design.
- Fix the wall.
If you are an artist or have engineering expertise that could be helpful to the town, please contact me and the town board with your thoughts. Your feedback is appreciated.
