2 Charged In Bid To Cash Stolen Bonds In Edgemont

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – The Greenburgh Police Department charged two men this week in connection with an attempt to redeem numerous savings bonds with fake identification.

Police were called Tuesday afternoon to the TD Bank branch on Central Avenue in Edgemont, after Allen Parker, 39, of Manhattan allegedly gave the bank teller a forged driver's license. The teller told police that the men exited the bank when questioned about the license.

Officers canvassed the area and found Parker and Jesse Thompson, 46, of the Bronx in a 2012 Nissan parked behind the T.G.I. Friday's restaurant across the street from the bank. Both were charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony.

Greenburgh detectives recovered 30 U.S. savings bonds from the Nissan, which were later confirmed stolen in another state, police said. According to the detectives, the bonds' face value totaled $3,000. Parker and Thompson were additionally charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. Parker was also charged with forgery, a felony, after being identified as the man who tried to cash the bonds.

Parker and Thompson were arraigned and sent to the Westchester County jail in Valhalla. They were due back in court Friday.
