"We apologize for the late notice, but this evening, residents may see some unusual activity at 50 Heatherdell Road," the email said. "Volunteer members of the Ardsley Fire Department will once again be holding a "smoke drill."
This drill is essentially a training opportunity for first responders, made possible by the owner of the home who is planning to have the building demolished in the next few weeks.
"Fire Chief Mark Florkowski has assured me that he will have notices of this training event hand-delivered to all the adjacent and nearby property owners so that no one gets too excited by all the activity," Calvi said. "Again, the "smoke drill" is taking place this evening between the hours of 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm."
