At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Scarsdale police received a call from the church to alert them that a burglary had just occurred and a lone suspect was fleeing the area. The caller was able to give police a description and led them in the direction he was traveling.

Several Scarsdale police units were dispatched to the area, and they located the suspect, Yonkers resident Gregory Ketter, 53, hiding behind multiple trash cans at the train station a minute later.

According to Scarsdale Police Capt. Thomas Altizio, the suspect was detained by responding officers and the caller from Trinity Lutheran Church was able to positively identify the suspect. Upon further investigation, detectives determined that Ketter had previously robbed the church on July 24.

Ketter was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, criminal mischief petit larceny and possession of burglar’s tools. He was arraigned in Scarsdale Justice Court by Judge Joaquin Alemany and remanded without bail to Westchester County Jail due to multiple previous arrests.
