GREENBURGH, N.Y. – The Fairview Fire Department on Wednesday awarded a volunteer firefighter $250,000 to settle an age discrimination case being tried before a federal jury in White Plains, lohud reports.

David Hecht, 46, of Greenburgh filed the 2012 lawsuit in after hearing from various sources that former Fairview Fire Chief Anthony LoGuidice passed him over for an opening because he was too old, according to the report.

Hecht was a finalist for the position; however, a 19-year-old not among those finalists was hired for the job, according to lohud.
