Mitch Schilkraut contacted authorities after a caller identifying himself as a Con Edison employee contacted him demanding $500 on a Money Pak pre-paid debit card. The caller told Schilkraut if he failed to comply, Con Edison would cut power to his business, police said.

Schilkraut contacted Con Edison who confirmed that the caller was not, in fact, an official with the utility company. Police subsequently contacted the caller and advised him to cease his activity, police said.
