Goldstein received 210 votes to 100 for his opponent and Pizzuti received 195 votes to 103 for her closest opponent, according to a press release. Pizzuti is a sergeant with the Greenburgh Auxiliary Police and Greenburgh Community Emergency Response. She is on the board and treasurer of the Hilltop Farms Association. Goldstein, a retired federal government auditor, has served on the Greenburgh Citizens Budget Committee and also served on a task force that looked into possible consolidation of fire district services.

Earlier this year some residents of both the Hartsdale and Fairview fire districts proposed a referendum be placed on the ballot for consolidating the two districts. After discussion, it was recommended to review expenditures and explore ways to cut costs and share expenses. During the recent election campaign, the Fairview Fire District Monitoring Committee indicated the Fairview Fire District is one of the costliest of the state's 880 independent fire districts.
