Greenburgh Police Arrest 24-Year-Old In Hotel Rape, Robbery In Elmsford

A Rockland County man is in trouble with the law in Greenburgh after being accused of rape and robbery at a hotel.

Officials from the Greenburgh Police Department announced on Wednesday that Spring Valley resident Tony Efese, 24, has been charged with felony counts of first-degree rape and robbery after a 21-year-old woman reported she was accosted at an Elmsford hotel to police.

According to police, on Jan. 4, the accuser was staying at the La Quinta hotel on Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford when she reported she had been raped and robbed at the location by Efese. Greenburgh detectives conducted an investigation that determined Efese was a suspect and obtained a search warrant for his home.

Efese was arrested by Greenburgh Police on Tuesday, with an assist from detectives from the Ramapo Police Department. He is currently being held at Greenburgh Police Headquarters and is awaiting arraignment in Greenburgh Town Court.
