GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh police officers arrested two men on charges of the sale and possession of marijuana on June 20 in the area of the Granada Crescent condominium complex on Hillside Avenue.

Greenburgh Police report that the department's Burglary Task Force was conducting routine burglary patrol and observed a silver Nissan Altima in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The car was occupied by one male who was observed by the officers waving down a male standing near the building. That individual has been identified as Jason Rodriguez a resident of 18-17 Granada Crescent.

Police said Rodriguez, 29, entered his apartment and came back outside several minutes later holding a large white plastic bag.

Rodriguez was then observed walking to the Nissan Altima and entering the vehicle on the front passenger side. An exchange of money was observed and Rodriguez got out of the vehicle.

The driver of the Nissan Altima drove out of the complex and was stopped by the officers. A quantity of marijuana was observed in the back seat of the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Andrew Spinelli, 21, of Mamaroneck, was placed under arrest and charged with criminal possession of marijuana 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor. He was released on an appearance ticket.

The Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force responded to the area and set up a surveillance of the apartment at 18-17 Granada Crescent. At 4:15 P.M., Rodriguez was observed by the officers leaving his apartment holding a plastic bag. He then walked to a black Infiniti bearing at Connecticut registration and placed the bag into the trunk of the car.

When Rodriguez got into the car he was approached by the police and placed under arrest for the earlier transaction with Spinelli. Rodriguez was charged with criminal sale of marijuana in the 2nd degree, a class D ffelony.

A subsequent investigation by the Greenburgh Police Drug and Alcohol Task Force resulted in the seizure of an additional two ounces of what was believed to be  marijuana recovered from the trunk of the Infiniti, and one ounce of what was believed to be marijuana recovered from the residence at 18-17 Granada Crescent, along with $3,294, a scale, and alleged marijuana packaging material.
