GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Police Department's Explorer Post team placed third overall at the 23rd annual Connecticut Explorer Stations Day Competition at the Connecticut State Police Academy on Saturday, May 3.
Greenburgh's Explorer Post 2003 was established in September 2003 by Police Officer Peter Dandreano and Sgt. James Duckham as a cooperative effort between the Community Affairs Unit and the Boy Scouts of America. The post is geared toward young men and women ages 14-20 who have an interest in law enforcement.
Dandreano reported that 40 teams consisting of more than 400 Explorers from New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts competed in the event.
"I am very proud of our young men and women for their hard work and dedication," Dandreano said. "I am also very thankful to Police Officers Bridges, Deastis, Zenon and Detective Jakasal for helping me get the Explorers ready for this event and making the event a success."
Dandreano said the Explorers have competed in Connecticut Explorer Stations Day Competition for the 10th year.
"This was my fifth year involved in organizing and assisting with coordinating it, and It was by far the most successful event yet," Dandreano said.
The Greenburgh Explorer Post placed third best overall and placed in the following stations:
