Officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery that apparently occurred earlier in the evening around 6 p.m. on Thursday. Patrol officers interviewed a 16-year-old male who disclosed that he was walking home through the wooded path of the nature center and was approached at Dromore Road by a male who grabbed his back pack in an attempt to steal it, police said.
The teen told police he was able to break free from the suspect who is described as a male in his 20s, either white or Hispanic, approximately 6-feet-tall and 140 pounds, police said. The victim managed to run away from the suspect and safely returned home, police said.
Police report there were no injuries to the victim nor any weapons displayed. The suspect was observed by the victim getting into a dark SUV and driving down Dromore Road toward Central Park Avenue, police said.
Greenburgh Police Detectives responded to the scene to conduct a follow-up investigation and are seeking the public’s assistance regarding the incident.
