Greenburgh Police Report Two Nearby Burglaries

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Having responded to two nearby burglaries the past two weekends, Greenburgh police are telling citizens to report any suspicious activity they see in the area.

A residential burglary was reported at 10 p.m. Saturday on Rock Hill Lane, Scarsdale. According to police, the home owner left the residence around 7:20 p.m. and returned around 10 p.m. to find a broken window in the bedroom and a number of jewelry items gone.

On Sept. 29, a house in a nearby neighborhood was broken into during a similar time frame, police said. Police responded to a call at 10 p.m. at a residence on Pheasant Run in Edgemont at which the rear sliding glass door was broken.

No items of value seemed to be missing, police said. Both cases still are being investigated.

With the point of entries, time frame and locations all similar, Lt. Brian Ryan of the Greenburgh Police Department said they plan to keep an eye on the cases, as it's possible it could be the same suspect.

Ryan added it's not unusual to see calls increase during this time of the year; as night begins to arrive earlier, so do the number of break-ins.

"If you see suspicious activity, call it in," Ryan said. "Be vigilant. If you have an alarm, make sure to activate it."
