Greenville Fire Department Battles Blaze At Sunningdale Country Club

SCARSDALE, N.Y. - Greenburgh Police, the Greenville Fire Department and nearby fire department personnel responded to a house fire at 126 Underhill Road Wednesday morning, on the grounds of the Sunningdale Country Club.

Greenburgh Police responded to an emergency call from an employee of Sunnyingdale Country Club who reported a fire at 9:08 a.m. Fire department personnel from the Hartsdale and Yonkers fire departments also responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze.

The first arriving officers found a 39-year-old woman near the front door of the home, which was ablaze. She was helped by the officers in leaving the house. The woman complained of minor smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by Greenburgh Police EMS and Fire personnel. She declined to be taken to the hospital.

Greenburgh Police reported that one firefighter from Greenville Fire Department was taken to the Westchester Medical Center for a minor injury he sustained during the incident.  He has since been treated and released. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Westchester County Cause and Origin Team and the Greenville Fire Department.

Members of the Westchester County Police Department of Public Safety also assisted in the investigation by providing a K9 at the scene.

Town of Greenburgh Police Detectives responded and conducted a crime scene investigation due to the nature of the fire and a lack of an obvious cause.
