While the victim was driving northbound, Lee allegedly engaged in reckless conduct by grabbing the victim and steering wheel while the vehicle was in motion, police said.
The victim was able to stop the vehicle on the shoulder and the defendant continued to engage in physical conduct by grabbing, restraining and striking the victim with his hands, police said. During the struggle, Lee forcibly took the victim's cell phone preventing her from calling 911, police said. A witness called 911 and troopers were assigned to the Troop T barracks in New Rochelle responded to scene, police said. Upon arrival, the defendant was not compliant, became combative and proceeded to engage in a physical altercation with the responding Troopers which resulted in one Trooper sustaining a broken ankle, police said. The defendant was subsequently arrested and charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor, reckless endangerment in the second degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, prevent emergency call, a misdemeanor, obstructing a governmental admin in the second degree, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree. The defendant was arraigned in the City of Rye Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail without bail and scheduled to reappear on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 9 a.m.
