A New City man pleaded guilty Friday to criminally negligent homicide charges stemming from a May 2014 motorcycle accident on the Sprain Brook Parkway, according to acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty.

Clifford Perkins, 26, was charged after the driver of a Mazda said he came up at an unsafe speed, hitting the rear bumper with his motorcycle and causing the car to cross lanes counterclockwise from the right lane to the left, the DA's Office said.

Perkins ended up on the right shoulder of the parkway after being thrown from his bike, and the victim, identified as Scott Phillips, was thrown down an embankment after hitting the Mazda's passenger side with his bike, McCarty's office said.

Authorities found that Perkins' license was revoked and suspended with a canceled motorcycle endorsement, according to the DA's Office.

He remains out on bail and will be sentenced on June 1, facing anywhere from one and a third to four years in prison, McCarty's office said.
