GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Missing Edgemont teen Christine Ji Woo Kang got off a train in New York City late Friday shortly after running away from home, Greenburgh police said Tuesday.

The 16-year-old has been considered an "endangered missing juvenile" ever since she left home in the Edgemont section of Greenburgh on her own accord about 8:30 p.m. after a disagreement with a parent.

Greenburgh Captain Brian J. Ryan said police determined Christine got off the train in Grand Central Station. A surveillance camera captured her images as she boarded a southbound train in Scarsdale at 10:18 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2.

Police said surveillance video showed Christine exited Grand Central at Lexington Avenue and 43rd Street at about 11:10 p.m. on Jan. 2. Greenburgh police are working with the New York Police Department, MTA and Port Authority police to locate the missing girl.

Christine moved from Greenwich to the Town of Greenburgh with her family about a year ago.

Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner, meanwhile, asked residents not to give up hope on finding Christine, who is a junior at Edgemont High School. In a mass email Monday night, Feiner asked residents to share Christine's photos with New York City friends and neighbors and make the best use of social media to find her.

Feiner wrote: "Many residents of our town are very upset over the news of the missing Edgemont teenager. The police department is working very hard trying to locate the young girl. You can help.  Here’s how….post her photo and story on your Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and other social media pages. Encourage your friends in NYC to also help the police locate Christine (Ji Woo) Kang) by sharing her photo and story. Put Christine’s photo up in your office – encourage colleagues to help look for her.  Ask your friends, neighbors to do the same."

Feiner noted that missing teens have been found in the past, citing the case of a 15-year-old Rye boy who went missing for a week in May 2012 before being found in NYC.

"Let’s make finding Christine our priority,'' Feiner said. "It’s my hope that Christine will learn of our efforts and know how much the community cares about her -- and wants her home."

Feiner shared web links from www.missingkids.com suggesting actions when a child goes missing from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
