Police Investigate Two Overnight Shootings In Yonkers; Man Hospitalized

YONKERS, N.Y. — Police are investigating two overnight shootings in Yonkers, one of which put a man in the hospital with injuries.

Numerous units responded to the area of 38 Main St.  on a report of a shooting at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Yonkers police said.

Responding units located shell casings on the street and apparent bullet holes in two parked vehicles. No victim were located at the scene.

At approximately 2:44 a.m., the Yonkers Police Communications Division received a phone call from St. John’s Hospital reporting that a male, who had sustained several gunshot wounds, was in the emergency room.

The victim, a 33-year-old male Yonkers resident, was subsequently transported to a local trauma center from St. John’s Hospital.

He has undergone surgery and was last reported in serious, but stable condition, police said.

A second male, a 28-year-old Yonkers resident was subsequently located a short time later in front of 5 Cottage Place Gardens with a gunshot wound to his foot. The second victim was treated and is expected to survive the injury.

It has been undetermined at this time what precipitated the shots being fired, police said.

Detectives are currently investigating to determine if these two incidents are related.

Members of the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene for evidence and Detectives are canvassing the area for video.
