Police Investigating Hit-And-Run That Injured 73-Year-Old In Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Detectives with the Mount Vernon Police Department are still searching for the hit-and-run driver that struck an elderly man and sped off in broad daylight over the holiday weekend.

Police confirmed that shortly before 2 p.m. on Saturday, a Bronx man was retrieving something from his car with his family on South Columbus Avenue when a car struck him and raced away. According to reports, the man, who has been identified as James Blake, was helping his nephew move into a Mount Vernon home.

Blake suffered several lacerations and fractures in his face and legs. He was transported and treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Jacobi Hospital. The vehicle that struck Blake has been described as a four-door green hatchback. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance cameras from the area after the car sped in the direction of Sanford Boulevard.
