Two of the reported thefts occurred involving cars in an Edgemont parking garage at 500 S. Central Ave., police said. The rims and tires were stolen from a 2012 Mercedes Benz and a 2012 Honda Accord, valued at a combined $8,500, police said.
When police were called to investigate the Mercedes Benz, they found the Accord was also propped up and missing its rims and tires in the same garage. There were no signs of forced entry and no surveillance tapes available, police said.
A third car in Hartsdale was also found under similar conditions Dec. 31 in a parking lot on Fieldstone Drive, according to police. The stolen rims and tires from a 2011 Honda Accord were worth $1,600, police said.
Greenburgh police also tallied three burglaries and eight larcenies over the holidays.
Among the burglaries was an Elmsford family on Winthrop Avenue, who returned from vacationing in Maryland on Dec. 30 to report that an IBM ThinkPad laptop and Xbox 360 were stolen from their first-floor apartment. The two devices are worth a combined $600, police said.
Two of the eight larcenies reported to police occurred at K-Mart in the Crossroads Shopping Center on Tarrytown Road. Gregory Newsome, 35 of Mount Vernon, was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor; after allegedly attempting to steal cans of Enfamil on Dec. 27 worth $158.
Police were also dispatched to Sam's Club, 333 Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford, on Christmas Eve when a Bronx woman reported that $200 was stolen from her handbag. The woman said she had forgotten her handbag in an aisle while she was trying out a massage chair and notified store security, police said. A store employee had returned the handbag to the front counter with the cash missing, and a surveillance tape showed an unidentified man picking up the bag and going through it, police said.

Shots Fired: Police responded to a Hartsdale apartment complex on Fieldstone Drive at 3 p.m. Saturday after a woman said she heard six gunshots coming from the woods near Woodlands High School football field. Other witnesses also confirmed hearing shots, but police could not find any footprints or evidence leading them to suspects.
Suspicious Incident: An Irvington man called police at 4 a.m. Saturday to say he saw a man urinating in his yard on Pine Lane. The resident told police the suspect was wearing dark clothing and that it appeared he was talking on his cell phone. The man had left by the time police arrived.
