GREENBURGH, N.Y. – A suspect allegedly caught in the act of burglarizing a home was arrested late Saturday by the Greenburgh Police Department.

Manhattan Avenue neighbors called police to report seeing someone "climbing out of a basement window with items of property apparently stolen from the residence," Greenburgh Police Sgt. Robert Whiting said.

Manuel Sanchez Quizhpi, 46, also lives on Manhattan Avenue. A brief police investigation determined that the house he was leaving was not his own, and neighbors had seen him fleeing the scene with stolen property. He has nine prior arrests and two misdemeanor convictions.

Police arrested and charged Sanchez Quizphi with burglary, a felony, at about midnight. All stolen property was recovered and returned to the burglarized home. Sanchez Quizphi was arraigned in Greenburgh Town Court and taken to Westchester County Jail.
