The meeting, which will take place Wednesday night at a Church Lane residence, will feature investigating detectives, who will provide tips and tactics to prevent potential burglaries and what to do in the event one walks in on a burglary in progress, which is what happened to the woman in Fox Meadow.

For the past few weeks, police in Bronxville, Eastchester, Greenburgh and Scarsdale have been at work investigating a string of burglaries that have occurred in the area. So far, only Bryan Mitchell, the homeless man who was caught in Edgemont following the Scarsdale burglary, has been apprehended.

Mitchell, who was arrested with a large amount of jewelry and a screwdriver in his possession, has not been linked to any of the recent burglaries in Bronxville.

“We have worked closely with the Scarsdale and Greenburgh Police Departments after a recent arrest for burglary in their jurisdictions,” Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale noted. “We do not believe that their subject is connected to our burglaries.”

Since stepping up officer patrols following three home burglaries in May, the Bronxville police have apprehended several suspects. On Friday, May 22, they arrested three individuals that were in possession of stolen vehicles following a pair of vehicle pursuits.

Despite the increased patrols, investigating officers and detectives are continuing to hunt for the burglary suspects, with the public’s help. According to Satriale, they have seen an increased number of false alarms and increased usage of interior and exterior lights as residents become more mindful of the burglaries.

“Many more residents are activating their alarm systems which is an encouraging sign,” he said. “Please make sure alarm systems are registered and permits up to date. Many new activations have been from systems that have been expired. We will not be issuing appearance tickets for these violations, but please renew permits online or at the police department.”

The meeting will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Starr residence at 65 Church Lane.
