Shot Fired During Robbery At Hastings Deli

Update, 12:30 p.m. Friday: Hastings Police Chief David Bloomer said the department is still investigating the robbery but no arrests have been made.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A shot was fired at Madaba Deli in Hastings during a robbery early Thursday, police said.

A deli employee called the police at 3:33 a.m. to report two men, both wearing black clothing with a garment covering their faces, had just robbed the business. One man was armed with what appeared to be a black automatic handgun, police said.

One of the men held the employee while the other took an unknown amount of cash. As the two suspects fled the scene, the gun was fired and police said they found a shell casing on the floor in the deli. Police said no one was injured from the shot.

The men fled in a small, white vehicle toward Broadway.

Police urge anyone with information about this crime to call the Hastings Police Department at 914-478-2344.
