A call from a concerned citizen to state police led to drug charges for a Rockland County woman who was caught driving erratically with heroin and a needle on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Westchester.
Troopers received a call from a motorist reporting an erratic driver on the parkway at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday in Mount Pleasant. Police proceeded to track down the vehicle and followed it a short way, observing several vehicle and traffic violations during that stretch.
During the subsequent traffic stop, troopers determined that 32-year-old Nyack resident Stephanie Sabino was driving while impaired, and she was placed under arrest. A search of her vehicle revealed that she was in possession of more than three grams of heroin and a hypodermic needle.
Sabino was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, all misdemeanors. She was issued multiple traffic tickets and is due in the Town of Mount Pleasant Justice Court on Oct. 19 to answer the charges.
