Westchester Man, 23, Pleads Guilty Following Fatal DWI Head-On Crash

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A Westchester County man is facing up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty following a fatal drinking and driving accident when he had a blood alcohol content approaching four times the legal limit.

On Tuesday, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino announced that 23-year-old Liam Perry, of Yonkers has pleaded guilty to a six-count indictment that includes felony charges of vehicular manslaughter for his role in the crash last summer that claimed the life of a man in Yonkers.

According to McCarty, shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, Perry was driving on Palmer Road in Yonkers, when he crossed the double yellow line near the Sunnybrook Road intersection and struck his victim’s Lincoln Town Car head on.

Perry had to be extracted from his vehicle, and both he and his victim were transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment. Perry survived, but his victim died from injuries sustained in the crash.

An investigation revealed that Perry’s blood alcohol content was .27 percent, more than triple the legal limit. On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to felony counts of first and second-degree vehicular manslaughter and individual counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanors. Perry was also charged with two counts of driving on a roadway land for traffic, a violation.

Perry remains remanded to the Westchester County Jail. He is due to be sentenced on Tuesday, April 4, where he faces a minimum of one to three years, or a maximum of 15 years in state prison.
