The Westchester County Board of Acquisition and Contract approved a plan Thursday for the New York Power Authority to look into installing green technologies at the Public Labs Building in Valhalla, the Westchester County Public Safety Headquarters in Hawthorne and 375 Executive Boulevard in Elmsford. The study will be conducted under terms of an existing agreement at no cost to taxpayers.
“Since day one, my administration has sought to protect taxpayers by reducing the size and operating cost of county government. We have also made protecting the environment a priority,” Westchester County Executive Astorino said. “By moving toward the use of clean, renewable energy at county buildings, such as solar and geothermal power, we have a terrific opportunity to combine those two important principles.”
An initial county-conducted review to determine if any facilities could be outfitted concluded that the three buildings were “ideal candidates for further study,” officials said.
