Lewisboro Democrats Challenge GOP For Softball Supremacy In Charity Game

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The Lewisboro Democrats will take on the undefeated Lewisboro Republicans in the 2nd Annual Charity Softball Game, to be held on Saturday.

Last year, the Lewisboro Republicans won the first Democrats vs. Republicans Charity Softball Game.

The game stars at 11 a.m. on the same day that residents will later gather to celebrate America’s 237th birthday with all sorts of outdoor activities and a fireworks show.

Although the teams represent Lewisboro’s Democratic and Republican Town Committees, anyone is eligible to play. Spectators of all political persuasions are encouraged to sponsor players on the field, and thereby establish themselves as owners and/or managers.

Sponsorship is $20 per inning for a maximum of two innings, or, as stated in a news release, “as agreed for designated hitters, pinch runners, etc.”

Last year’s stars were Town Board members Peter DeLucia and Frank Kelly, both Republicans. This year the Democrats have Town Board candidate Richard Sklarin in their starting lineup. Sklarin is a former college baseball player, so the challenge is formidable.

Funds raised through the game will go to the Forever Molly and Gregory Fund, created in memory of Molly and Gregory Friedlander and their mother, Amy.

The game will take place on Field Four at Onatru Farm, Elmwood Road, South Salem. Anyone who shows up can get into the game.

Food and beverages provided by South Salem’s Horse & Hound Inn will be available at the Pavilion, with proceeds going to the fund.

All donations, sponsorship and volunteers are welcome. For further information contact info@lewisborogop.org.crats
