The Democrats ended their convention early Thursday morning at the Westchester County Center without counting the votes to determine their nominee. Ken Jenkins, a county legislator is from Yonkers, is running against Senator George Latimer, a Rye resident.
The votes are expected to be counted on Friday. Latimer said he will step aside if the Democrats choose Jenkins, while Jenkins has said he will continue his campaign into a September primary if the Democrats choose Latimer.
The two are running to determine who faces Rob Astorino (R-Mount Pleasant), who is running for a third term. David Spano, son of former County Executive Andrew Spano, has also declared his candidacy.
