Bob Bernstein of Hartsdale, who won the Greenburgh Democratic committee's nomination this spring, will face off against incumbent Paul Feiner in the Sept. 10 primary.
Greenburgh Town Clerk candidates Sherron Fantauzzi, who has the Greenburgh Democratic Party endorsement, and incumbent Judith Beville have been invited to offer three-minute presentations.
Bernstein appeared at a recent debate sponsored by the Council of Greenburgh Civic Associations but Feiner did not. A recent Daily Voice poll of more than 120 possible primary voters had Bernstein ahead by 61-34 percentage with 5 percent planning to vote for neither candidate.
Bernstein has attacked Feiner on several fronts and accused the 11-term supervisor of avoiding debate on the issues. "I hope Paul decides to show up this time," Bernstein said. "When I got into this race at the end of May, Paul said he welcomed competition, but he's since spent 10s of thousands of dollars trying unsuccessfully to get me thrown off the ballot, and so far refused to show up at any debate or interview where I would be present with him in the same room. Just because he's been in office for 22 years doesn't give him a license to thumb his nose at the voters who put him there." Feiner said Bernstein's assertion that the supervisor's job may be too much for a busy attorney to handle. "I am looking forward to the debate," Feiner said. "It will provide the voters with the opportunity to contrast our records, visions and styles."
