On Monday afternoon, Dobbs Ferry Schools Superintendent Lisa Brady announced that two students were being charged as juveniles with falsely reporting an incident, making terroristic threats and second-degree aggravated harassment following a police investigation into an Instagram post they deemed “inappropriate.”

According to Brady, the students transmitted an audio file referring to violent behavior towards Springhurst students. The information was presented to the administration by their fellow students, who were concerned about the post, on Friday.

Citing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Brady noted that she could not comment about the students or their discipline. Due to the nature of the threats made, the Dobbs Ferry Police Department increased security throughout the district and made emphasis patrols around Springhurst on Monday, though there were no incidents.

“We are grateful for the tireless efforts (of the police) to ensure the safety and security of our students,” Brady said in a letter to parents. “Parents can reassure their children if they have any questions, that this is an isolated incident and that their school is safe.”
