Two groups from the Lower Hudson region have created and released a video that takes New York state to task on a number of issues facing public schools, including fiscal concerns, state policy and education reform.

Created and released by the Westchester/Putnam School Boards Association and the Lower Hudson Council of School Superintendents, the video, “Last Straw for NY Public Schools,” shows how, one by one, New York state policies have impacted public schools and students by taking away state aid through the Gap Elimination Adjustment, freezing Foundation Aid, and poorly implementing state assessment and accountability regulations.

The groups urge community members to share the video and to take a moment to send electronic letters to their legislators, available on the WPSBA website, https://www.votervoice.net/WPSBA/Campaigns.

The video can be found on the Westchester/Putnam School Boards YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3IDbff6zOc) and Facebook page.

“Last Straw for NY Public Schools” was created by board members Michael Hanna and Shane McGaffey, who donated their time to the endeavor.
