GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Harshita Shet, a student at Richard J. Bailey School in the Greenburgh Central School District, won the school's annual spelling bee on Friday.
She emerged as the winner after more than 50 rounds with her classmates.
Harshita, who is also last year's winner, will again head to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., in the spring.
The Spelling Bee was dedicated to the late Bill Carter, who served as commissioner of the Theodore Young Community Center since 2008, and died in January after a battle with cancer.
