EDGEMONT, N.Y. – The Edgemont School Board Nominating Committee will host its candidates forum Wednesday evening, giving residents a chance to learn more about their soon-to-be representatives.

The two candidates, Jennifer Darger and Brian Yarrington, will run unopposed for two seats on the Edgemont Board of Education in the May 15 vote.

Both will be present for the annual meet and greet session.

“We conduct this forum as opportunity for Edgemont residents to come and meet the candidates, ask questions and have the candidates be able to introduce themselves to community in public meeting,” Nominating Committee Chairman Marc Ackerman said.

Darger and Yarrington won the support of the nomination committee earlier this year after an interviewing process, outlasting the only other potential candidate, incumbent Lisa Wexler.

Wexler has completed one term on the board but opted not to seek re-election after failing to gain the support of the nomination committee.

“I think it really was a matter of three strong candidates and Bryan and Jennifer were chosen,” Ackerman said of the nomination process.

The other seat up for grabs will board President Gerry Stoughton’s, who opted not to seek a third term. Each seat on the Edgemont Board of Education carries a three-year term.
