ELMSFORD, N.Y. – Voters in the Elmsford Union Free School District approved a $30.2 million budget and elected Felice Harris and Michael Colasuonno to the board of education.

The budget passed with 204 votes for and 135 of votes against. Board of Education President Matthew Evans said the board was thankful for the support of voters.

"We were able to project responsibility in the format and construction of this budget and the community responded appropriately," he said.

The passed budget is projected to increase property taxes to $546.16 for every thousand dollars of assessed property value, up $14.39 from last year.

Newcomers to the board, Harris and Colasuonno ran uncontested races and will take the seats of Vice President James Henson and Trustee Deborah Lawrance, both of whom opted not to seek reelection.

Board of education seats carry three-year terms.
