Rotarians Barbara Eannazzo, village treasurer and past president of the Elmsford Rotary Club, and Syed Alirahi, vice president, visited the school to present students with dictionaries, part of The Dictionary Project that the rotary participates in each year with the district. The goal of the program is to increase literacy and help students become good writers, active readers, creative thinkers and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.

Eannazzo and Alirahi discussed the mission of the Elmsford Rotary with the children and made a poignant connection to community service and community leadership. This is the third year that students at Grady Elementary have received such a donation.

Schools Superintendent Joseph Ricca is appreciative of the rotary’s donation, saying that the importance of literacy can never be understated. “The Elmsford UFSD is committed to increasing literacy, fostering a love of reading and encouraging a natural curiosity to learn,” he said.

He added that the district’s partnership with the Rotary provides “another wonderful tool for our students as they progress on their own educational journey.” “It also demonstrates its mission to serve and support the local community," he said. "We are blessed to maintain such a strong partnership with them, and we are very grateful for their continued support of our students.”
