ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- First-year Elmsford School District Superintendent Dr. Joseph Ricca will host the first of a planned series of meetings with residents, "Coffee and Conversation with the Superintendent," at Alexander Hamilton High School Library on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 a.m.
Ricca, who came to Elmsford this summer after working as Schools Superintendent in the East Hanover, New Jersey school district, announced the idea of meeting with parents and other residents at a joint meeting of the Elmsford Board of Education and Village Board last week when the two groups launched Anti-Bullying Month campaign.
"The goal of the program is to meet with parents/guardians and community members to discuss our district," Ricca said. "I hope to learn about participants' perspectives of our district (both strengths and weaknesses)."
Ricca said the first early-morning meeting will be followed by an afternoon gathering in January. He plans to discuss what makes a successful school district in 2013, upgrades in district technology, parents-teacher conferences and the district website and information to the community.
"We will rotate meeting times to try and accommodate our community members throughout the year," Ricca said. "I would really like to welcome as many folks as possible."
