This community service day highlighted habits six and seven of the book, where students “synergized” by working together to accomplish a common goal, and “sharpened the saw” through engaging in collaborative activities.

Students began their service on the grounds of Alexander Hamilton by cleaning up around the campus. The group then moved into the Village of Elmsford and planted flowers around Legion Park, Kiwanis Park and the Village Senior Center.

“This effort would not have been possible without the continued support of Mayor Robert Williams and Village Administrator Mr. Michael Mills. We would also like to thank Mr. Frederick Schlott, general manager at Home Depot, Mr. Dave Ward, manager at Kmart, Mr. and Mrs. David Perilli, and the Elmsford Police Department for their support and donations,” said Andrea C. Hamilton, assistant principal of Alexander Hamilton High School.
