Greenburgh Announces College Scholarship Deadlines

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Deadlines are approaching in the next month for several scholarships, according to an announcement by Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner.

Students applying for college might be interested in five scholarship opportunities with deadlines within the next 30 days:

The following scholarships with information and deadlines are currently accepting applications:

Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards - $4,000 - 250 Awards (Deadline: Jan. 29) Student Eligibility: For the 2016 contest, any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2013, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2013, is eligible to apply. The applicant must be a high school senior. Click here for the application.

Courageous Persuaders Scholarship - $3,000 - 14 Awards (Deadline: Feb. 11) Student Eligibility: Compete for scholarship dollars and a chance to air a commercial on TV. Create a 30-second commercial to warn middle school students about the dangers of underage drinking or the dangers of texting while driving. Students can enter separate videos in both categories. The competition is open to high school students in grades 9-12. Click here for the application.

January 2016 Scholarship Points Award - $10,000 - 10 Awards (Deadline: Jan. 31) Student Eligibility: A) At least 13 years old and enrolled or will enroll in a college or university in the U.S. B) A legal resident of the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Click here for the application.

You Deserve It Scholarship - $1,000 - 1 Award (Deadline: Feb. 15)  Student Eligibility:  A) You must be a resident of any of the 50 United States, District of Columbia or US Territories; B) You must be 16 years of age or older C) You must either be enrolled now, or will be enrolled iin a qualified high school, college or university within the United States. Click here for the application.
