GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- In celebration of World Read-Aloud Day, which was held this Wednesday, Greenburgh's elementary schools held an array of activities centered around reading and enjoying books out loud.

Students in Jessica Blau's class at Lee F. Jackson School and Maria Maldonado's class at Highview School Skyped with children's author Melissa Guion, author and illustrator of Baby Penguins Everywhere and Baby Penguins Love Their Mama.

At Jackson, Highview and RJ Bailey Schools, students enjoyed volunteer readers who came into classrooms to read books aloud. The initiatives were funded by grants from the Greenburgh Educational Foundation and the Greenburgh Rotary.
