The district has launched several leadership and anti-bullying campaigns like the "Not in our Schools, Not in our Village” program which was born in September, 2013. Students learn about responsibility, respect and character throughout the school day, through reading stories, playing sports during physical education and conducting experiments in science class.
The district also has incorporated the comprehensive Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, which focuses on long-term change fosters as positive school climate, District Administration reported.
The principals of the district’s schools say they have seen a drop in reports of bullying as a result of these initiatives, District Administration said.
Districts of Distinction is a national recognition program created by District Administration magazine to honor school districts that are leading the way with new ideas that work.
