POCANTICO HILLS, N.Y. – Pocantico Hills residents will head to the polls Tuesday to vote on a proposed 2012-13 budget and one board of education member..

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Voting takes place at the School Library.

Incumbent David Wilens is running unopposed for his seat on the board of education. Trustees serve three-year terms.

The proposed $28.6 million budget would decrease the tax rate by 1.1 percent for Mount Pleasant residents and 2.2 percent for Greenburgh residents. The district also is proposing to increase its tax certiorari fund to $3 million and put aside $300,000 for school building repairs. You can read more about the proposed budget on The Daily Sleepy Hollow.

The propositions exceed the new state tax levy cap so a 60 percent majority is needed for the budget to pass.

Questions regarding the village election should be directed to District Clerk Gina Downes at 914-631-3280 or gdownes@pocanticohills.org.
