The proposed bond is $6.6 million, according to an August presentation to the Board of Education. The presentation goes into detail on the proposed repairs, upgrades and renovations at Virginia Road Elementary School and Valhalla Middle/High School.

"The Valhalla Union Free School District's upcoming capital bond referendum will enhance the curriculum and help reach our programmatic learning goals," the district noted in a news release.

The district noted that, if passed, the bond would be partially funded by the funds set aside from the 2014 sale of the Columbus Avenue School.

Some of the items included in the funding proposal include:

  • enhancements to the science labs at VMHS,
  • renovations of the VMHS auditorium,
  • a new playground at Virginia Road School, and
  • masonry repairs at Virginia Road School.

You can view the proposed repairs and upgrades in the detailed August presentation.
