GREENBURGH, N.Y. The Early Childcare Program at Woodlands is currently pre-registering students for preschool.
The ECP is open and free to any 4-year-old in Greenburgh. Over 100 spots are open as staff is currently reading through applications. Registration is open until Feb. 6.
"I love seeing the new kids come in every year," said ECP Principal Dawn Mair-Male. "Right now, the teachers are lining up their thematic units of study. We study authors, animals, family, geography, cultures. We do a variety of hands-on activities so that the kids gets the concrete hands-on experience."
The ECP hosts nine teachers and 13 teaching assistants, focused on giving the students an interactive year of learning, said Mair-Male. The students take field trips to the Greenburgh Nature Center, the wolf conservation and go pumpkin picking.
"I find that what really makes us extremely special is the fact that I have longevity and consistency with my staff," said Mair-Male. "My teachers are all certified elementary teachers. We go through a variety of staff development to make sure that we are up to the current trends in early childhood. And we take the creative curriculum framework very seriously."
The ECP is located at 475 W. Hartsdale Ave. Call 914-949-2745 for more information.
