ARDSLEY, N.Y. Ardsley High School honored its athletic director Hank Roth with a ceremony between games at the basketball tournament now known as the Hank Roth Classic.
Roth, who humbly stood with his arms crossed as he was praised, received a plaque at center court as the school officially renamed the tournament that Ardsley has hosted for 17 years.
I feel very fortunate that I get to work in this community, Roth said to the bleachers full of spectators in the gymnasium.
Roth, whose 40 years as an athletic director is the longest tenure at that position in Westchester County, has served in the post at Ardsley for 16 years. During his illustrious career, he earned Coach of the Year honors in three different sports and was also named New York State Athletic Director of the Year.
