Baseball, Softball Registration in Greenburgh

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – Registration is underway for youth baseball and softball leagues and clinics in Greenburgh.

There are about two weeks left for students in third through sixth-grades to sign up for girls youth softball. The league consists of teams from Greenburgh, Elmsford Recreation, Edgemont and Irvington Recreation, as well as the Tarrytown TNT program. Participants will play on teams according to school district affiliation and grade level.

Games will be played weeknights the week of April 17 and on Saturdays beginning April 21. Cost is $30 and registration ends Thursday, March 22. Applications should be mailed to: Greenburgh Parks and Recreation, 11 Olympic Lane, Ardsley, N.Y. 10502.

Meanwhile, boys and girls ages 5 and 6 can learn the fundamentals of baseball and softball at a clinic run by former Manhattanville College Baseball Coach Scott Madalon. Hitting, catching and base-running will be taught and mini-games will be played. Parents are required to participate.

Program will meet on six Saturdays from April 28 to June 9 at East Rumbrook Park Lower Field on Dobbs Ferry Road. Cost is $45 for residents and $59 for nonresidents. All participants must bring their own glove and cleats are recommended. Each player will receive a T-shirt and a cap.
