Edgemont Lacrosse Gets Second Loss in Four Games

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The Edgemont High School lacrosse team dropped its second game in its last four contests with a 9-6 loss to Irvington on Wednesday. The Panthers won six of their first seven games but have gone 2-2 in their last four to fall to 8-3 for the season.

Edgemont defeated Irvington, 5-4, at home in mid-April. In that game, Irvington’s Sam Winton and Jon Cofre had just one goal apiece. On Wednesday, they accounted for eight of the team’s nine goals. Winton also added two assists. Jared Simon again led the Panthers with four goals and Trevor Ortega had 12 saves.

"Hard fought, tough game.  We did not execute on scoring opportunities or win enough faceoffs," said Edgemont coach Mark Gryzlo via email. "The guys played hard and we are looking forward to testing our metal against New Rochelle this Friday."

The Panthers’ three losses this year have come, in order, to Clarkstown South, Dobbs Ferry and Irvington.
