Edgemont's Third-Quarter Surge Downs Ardsley Lacrosse

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – The Edgemont boys lacrosse team continued its winning ways and used a third quarter surge to topple Ardsley, 7-4, in a battle of the Panthers on Monday.

Edgemont (8-2) trailed, 3-1, at halftime, but scored four times in the third quarter to rally for the win. Edgemont held Ardsley to just one goal in the second half.

Edgemont led 5-4 heading into the fourth quarter but shut Ardsley out in the final frame. The victorious Panthers scored twice in the fourth to get some breathing room.

"Sloppy first half, came out strong in the third quarter and we were able to put some goals together," said Edgemont coach Mark Gryzlo via email. "However, we need to be better fundamentally if we are to have continued success."

Jared Simon led Edgemont with three goals and an assist, while Drew Longo accounted for 75 percent of Ardsley’s total with three goals of his own. Trevor Ortega had nine saves for Edgemont and Alec Lessem had 10 saves for Ardsley.
